Trends towards more compact working environments and the need for lower ground pressures on customer work sites has for a number of years driven the focus of Loxam UK towards lighter machines. The extensive range of Niftylift machines in diesel, bi-energy and full hybrid technology has proven a major success and demand remains high across the HR range of 12 metre, 15 metre, 17 metre and 21 metre machines.

The logical extension of this trend is to move fully into tracked access or spider booms. This has now rapidly commenced following detailed customer analysis of what is required.  Five new spiders and have been added so far in 2014 and more are on order for delivery soon.  In all cases Loxam UK aim to ensure it has a range that can work inside with access through standard doorways and very low ground pressures for floors such as shopping centres, churches and public authority buildings.

They can be used on diesel (outside) or electric (inside) with 240 volt connectivity to ensure the full working shift without the need for recharge. Where necessary the customer can specify bio degradable hydraulic oil, often required when working near water and a preference when working on expensive floors.

With the costs of organising and managing scaffolding the use of spider lifts can often be the lower cost, safer and more rapidly organised solution. A recent example would be the response to the tragic situation at Liberton school Edinburgh where the Loxam team were able to facilitate the full requirements of the local authorities using up to four spiders and its experienced PAL+ operators at any one time.

Currently Loxam are working with Promax , Hinowa and are evaluating JLG, further additions to the fleet are expected during 2014 and beyond.
